GET YOUR WORKPLACE INVOLVED

Do you think that your fellow co-workers would also like to help build a more equitable world where all children have access to food, shelter and an education? As companies receive tax credits for their charitable donations it is not difficult to introduce a social responsibility program into a company. The Make Child Poverty History initiative began when members of the WSI board decided it was time to take a more active role, on a more global scale with the goal to end child poverty one village at a time.

This action list will get you started:

Begin a Company Outreach program.

Form a small group and identify the cause you would most like to help i.e. Make Child Poverty History.

Build a proposal for your executive management committee requesting their support to match any contributions that the employees make. Ensure you outline the tax benefits and the goodwill benefits to your company.

Hold an internal event to announce your Outreach program and invite your business network.

Create a website where your clients, business partners and social network can learn about your cause.

Hold regular awareness and fundraising events.

Some activities that co-workers can do to show their support:

Wear an armband

Participate in fundraising activities

Sponsor a child
